Road and drainage improvements are getting underway in Grimsby, with the Town warning residents and visitors to expect possible access impacts in the Grimsby Beach area as the work advances.
According to a Town of Grimsby notice, construction is set to begin Tuesday, October 6, starting with cross culvert replacements and repairs. The project is expected to last at least two months.
Further phases of the work will include spot repairs near Kelson Avenue South and Woodcrest Drive, as well as near Bowslaugh Road and Kemp Road West. The Town also plans to reconstruct the intersections of Hunter Road and Waterview Lane, and Third Street and Temple Lane.
While the Town says impacts at most locations should be minimal, drivers, cyclists and pedestrians travelling through Grimsby Beach in particular should plan for possible delays or restricted access while crews are active.
What the work involves
The improvements are aimed at fixing deteriorating road surfaces and addressing longstanding drainage issues in the affected neighbourhoods, the Town said.
Crews will begin with the culvert replacements before moving on to the spot repairs and intersection reconstructions. A specific schedule for each phase has not been released.
Grimsby residents with questions about the project can contact the Town's Public Works department at 905-945-9634, ext. 2118, or by email at awestbrook@grimsby.ca.
