From 911 call to search warrant
A 49-year-old Niagara Falls man is facing a series of firearms charges after a police investigation that began with a loaded handgun found discarded on a downtown street.
Patrick Gagnon was arrested on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, when the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Lundy's Lane and Drummond Road in Niagara Falls, according to a Niagara Regional Police Service news release.
The investigation started more than three months earlier. On Sunday, June 14, 2026, uniform officers from NRPS 2 District, which covers Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake, responded to a 911 call at an address on Ferry Street near Main Street after the caller could not be identified. Police said officers were unable to locate anyone in distress in the surrounding area.
During that search, officers found a discarded Glock handgun loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition. The firearm was seized, and 2 District officers launched an investigation to determine who owned it, which eventually identified a suspect.
Search warrant and arrest
On September 30, the 2 District Street Crime Unit took over the investigation and obtained judicial authorization to search the Lundy's Lane area residence. The warrant was executed with help from the Emergency Task Unit, and the suspect was arrested inside the home.
Police said an additional starter revolver and ammunition were also seized during the search of the residence.
Gagnon faces multiple criminal charges in connection with the investigation. He remains in custody and attended a bail hearing on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.
