A 57-year-old Niagara Falls man has been charged with sexual assault following a Niagara Regional Police investigation into an alleged historic incident in Welland.
Police said the Child Abuse and Human Trafficking units began investigating in May after receiving a report involving a person who was under the age of 16 at the time. The alleged offence dates back to 2004.
Rodney Hollingworth of Niagara Falls was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual assault, according to Niagara Regional Police.
He remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in bail court Wednesday.
Police believe there may be more victims
Detectives say they believe additional victims may exist, and they are asking anyone with information about the investigation to come forward and contact Niagara Regional Police.
No further details about the investigation have been released by police.
