Niagara Falls residents won't have far to travel for Canada Day this year. The city has announced a full day of free festivities at Firemen's Park on Wednesday, July 1, running from noon until 8 p.m.
The family-friendly event, detailed in a report by Niagara Daily News, will include live entertainment on a main stage, activities for children and families, food vendors, artisans and community displays throughout the afternoon and early evening.
Mystic Highway to headline main stage
The musical centrepiece of the day will be a headline performance by Mystic Highway, a tribute act dedicated to the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival. The band will close out the main stage lineup, which features live entertainment throughout the celebration.
Alongside the music, visitors can browse artisan booths and community displays, grab a bite from on-site food vendors, and take part in family activities planned for the park.
Free shuttles and volunteer opportunities
Organizers say free shuttle service will run across the city to make it easier for residents to get to and from the park without worrying about parking or traffic.
The event is also still in need of helping hands. Volunteers are being recruited to assist with the festivities, and anyone interested in pitching in can reach out to organizers through the city.
What to know before you go
Firemen's Park, located in the north end of Niagara Falls, has long served as a gathering spot for community events, with open green space and picnic areas that lend themselves to a full-day celebration like this one.
With the event running eight hours, from noon until 8 p.m., families can drop in for an afternoon of activities or stay through the evening to catch the headlining set from Mystic Highway.
Admission is free, making it an accessible option for residents across Niagara Falls and the wider Niagara Region looking to mark the country's birthday close to home.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to consider the free shuttle service rather than driving, given the crowds expected for one of the city's largest summer gatherings.
Further details about the shuttle routes, performance schedule and volunteer sign-up are available through the City of Niagara Falls, according to Niagara Daily News.
