Suspects considered armed and dangerous

Niagara Regional Police released surveillance video Friday of two suspects wanted on Canada-wide warrants in connection with a fatal shooting in Niagara Falls that claimed the life of a 35-year-old man.

The video, released eight days after the killing, shows 23-year-old Maroof Bangi and 30-year-old Josta Grace MacNeal crossing a grassy area before walking onto a porch and trying to enter a building. According to CHCH, it is unclear where or when the footage was taken.

The pair are wanted for the alleged second-degree murder of Mitchell Snoddon, who was shot on July 16 at a home on Thorold Stone Road near Dorchester Road. He later died of his injuries in hospital.

What the video shows

In the footage, Bangi is seen wearing sunglasses, a red bandana, a white T-shirt and dark pants and shoes. Police describe him as five-foot-six with a slim build and dark skin.

MacNeal is shown in a grey hooded sweatshirt, baggy blue sweatpants and white shoes. She is described as having dark brown hair, brown eyes and a distinctive feather tattoo on the left side of her neck.

A trail of abandoned vehicles

Police say Bangi and MacNeal initially fled the scene in a white 2022-26 Nissan Rogue SUV. Two days later, according to CHCH, investigators said that vehicle had been recovered and the suspects were believed to be driving a black 2021 Mazda CX5. The Mazda was found the next day.

On July 21, detectives determined the two were driving a 2016 Toyota Camry on Highway 45 in Hastings, Ontario. That vehicle was also recovered, the following day, by local police in Saint-Eustache, Quebec.

Police say it is currently unknown whether the suspects are operating a new vehicle.

Do not approach, police say

Bangi and MacNeal are considered armed and dangerous because the firearm used in the shooting has not been recovered.

Investigators believe the pair may try to change their appearance to avoid detection, including altering facial hair, hair length or colour, makeup and clothing style.

Anyone who spots the suspects is urged not to approach them and to call 911 immediately.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009134. Tips can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
