The Town of Pelham is mailing correction notices to residents of Wards Two and Three after election materials sent to those households incorrectly listed institutional voting locations as polling stations open to all voters.
According to a Town of Pelham news release, residents in those wards should watch their mailboxes next week for a yellow voting location correction notice explaining where they can actually cast their ballots.
On Election Day, October 26, voters in Wards Two and Three will only be able to vote in person at polling stations located at the Meridian Community Centre. The town said the institutional sites listed in the earlier notices are not open polling stations for the general public on Election Day.
Residents in those wards do have other ways to cast their ballots. The town says they may vote on an advance voting date or online.
"Elections are a key part of the democratic process, as they give residents the opportunity to make sure their voices are heard at Town of Pelham council," said Town Clerk Holly Wilford, in a Town of Pelham news release. "The Town of Pelham is making every effort to ensure residents have the correct information about where they should vote on election day to encourage the highest voter turnout possible."
The correction does not affect people who live at the institutional voting locations themselves. Those residents will still be able to cast their ballots at those sites on October 26.
