The Town of Pelham has been recognized by the province for its financial reporting for the third year in a row.
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has awarded the Town a 2025 Financial Information Return (FIR) Award, according to a Town of Pelham news release. The award recognizes municipalities that submit timely, reliable and accurate financial information to the ministry.
Only 20 of Ontario's 444 municipalities received an FIR Award for their 2025 financial reporting.
The FIR is the ministry's main data-collection tool for gathering financial and statistical information from municipalities. Through a standardized template, municipalities report their financial position and activities, including assets, liabilities, revenue and expenses, for the previous fiscal year based on audited financial statements.
The data helps the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing provide information to users of the municipal database and inform government decision-making.
"It is encouraging to have the Town of Pelham's FIR Report receive this recognition again for the third year in a row, which highlights the dedication and commitment to timely and accurate information," said Treasurer and Director of Corporate Services Teresa Quinlin-Murphy. "With council placing priority on the corporation's financial health through the strategic plan, there is an ongoing commitment to ensure the financial strength and sustainability of Pelham."
The recognition marks the third consecutive year the Town has earned the award for its annual submission.
