A 28-year-old St. Catharines man is facing charges after a human trafficking investigation by Niagara Regional Police.

Syed Shah was arrested in St. Catharines on Monday with the assistance of uniform officers, Niagara Daily News reported. He is charged with procuring, assault and mischief under $5,000.

According to Niagara Daily News, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Human Trafficking Unit began the investigation earlier this month after receiving information about the trafficking of a woman in Niagara.

Police have not released further details about the investigation or the circumstances leading to the arrest.

Police believe there may be more victims

Investigators say they believe there could be additional victims, and they are asking anyone who has had contact with Shah to come forward. Police say Shah also goes by the name "Fabs."
